Uzbekistan to Introduce Salary Supplements of Up to 7 Million Soms for State Registration of Medical Workers
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced large-scale changes in the training, professional development, and incentivization of medical personnel

Uzbekistan is launching a new state registration system for doctors, pharmacists, and nurses. The main goal of the initiative is to strengthen control over the qualifications of specialists and improve the quality of medical services.
Registration of medical workers will begin on July 1, 2027, and will initially be voluntary. However, by 2030, the procedure will become mandatory across the entire sector.
Significant monthly salary supplements are provided for undergoing state registration: - Doctors and pharmacists: up to 7 million soms; - Mid-level medical staff: 3.5 million soms.
Each year, 11 state medical universities in the country graduate approximately 15,000 doctors. To enhance graduates' readiness for real patient care, the education system will be fully tied to clinical practice starting in 2027. Medical students will spend at least three days a week in clinics, and final-year students will be fully engaged in practical training throughout the academic year.
The private sector will also be involved in the professional development of doctors—medical workers will be able to independently choose accredited educational platforms. Additionally, the state will compensate for the costs of courses for primary care and district hospital staff: according to calculations, this will allow over 130,000 medical workers to collectively save around 100 billion soms annually.
