SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced plans to distribute shares, currently owning approximately 4.8 billion of the company's shares. Including unvested awards and options, his holdings amount to 6.4 billion shares, or 48.4% of the beneficial ownership.
Musk did not disclose how the distribution will be organized, calling it the first in a series of similar initiatives. Earlier, Anthropic announced plans to allocate a portion of its own shares to a new public benefit fund, and Musk recommended distributing shares directly to the population.
